A Busy Day Full of Nothing

9 years of barely-there-presence over here motivated me to post this. Enjoy!

In my ear rings the Big Ben's horn
Been snoozing it since six in the morn
It's ten past ten and I'm more than late
Getting out of the bed in a befuddled state.

Fingers creak when I reach out to brush
But I take my sweet time, where's the rush?!
Muscles refuse to stretch, Yay! No exercise!
I go below the shower, helping me to sterilize.

The couch calls me, so does the TV remote
I cater to both with chips and chocolate float
Flipping over the newspapers, surfing on the phone
Now that's enough of work to break my backbone!

A much loved siesta lies ahead
Seems ages since I've seen my bed
But there's so much to do - doughnuts and drinks
I end up on the couch catching forty winks.

The sun's setting down, so are my eyes
Before they give in, let me binge on some fries
I promise to buckle up, wrap up my to-do list completely,
Which will be tomorrow (that never comes!), definitely.

TV and Online TV Series!

Circa 2000 A.D.: Resolution of watching a few famous and interesting TV series taken.
Circa 2015 A.D.: Started implementation of the same.

Watching some good TV series has been in my mind since 5 years which I started doing just a month ago. Jotted down a couple of evergreen TV series/Netflix series. And before you suggest me to watch Friends, let me tell you I'm allergic to it since my childhood and it's not even on the last of my to-watch list. The main culprits of me being so anti-Friends are, well, my friends. Whenever I paid a visit to my teenage neighbours' place (I was not even a teenager that time!) or whenever there was a TV gossip at school, Friends was being played/discussed/worshipped. And this used to happen regularly, day after day. Hence the hatred. I've not watched any episode for more than ten seconds till date. Let's see if I manage to watch one full episode and start liking Friends like my friends! A couple of things I like about Friends are the title track and Jennifer Aniston. That's it!

Of late, I've been bit by the Netflix bug. On being asked if I've watched so-and-so series, pat comes my reply, 'No. Was it aired on Netflix? If yes, then I'll add it to my list else forget it!' My list includes many Netflix originals. But I got to admit that I was never a Netflix subscriber till January 07, 2016 when Netflix was officially announced in India. The simple reason for a month's subscription: Muft! Muft! Muft!*
*with Rs.70 as service fee. Duh!

Following is my list as of today (in alphabetical order):

Series to watch in this Lifetime:
24
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
Black Mirror
Bloodline
Breaking Bad
Danger Mouse
Dexter
Fuller House
Grace and Frankie
House of Cards
How I Met Your Mother
Justice League
Lost
Marco Polo
Master of None
Modern Family
Narcos
Quantico
Seinfeld
Sense8
Sherlock
Suits
The O.C.
Two and a Half Men
Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt.

P.S. Series not to watch in this Lifetime:
Friends!

Andaz Apna Apna and its effects on my life..Uima!

Of all the movies that I've watched/brushed through/re-watched till date, Andaz Apna Apna is that one movie whose many dialogues I remember naturally and also take pains to memorise others. I got just two words for the cult classic - laughter riot.
Many of my friends have declared me an AAA maniac but little do they know that I'm nothing in front of those so many people who have created fan pages, rote every dialogue, purchased original CDs, generated memes and what not! I humbly say that I'm a teeny weeny one among the massive fan-following. Oh how I envy those who can strike an AAA dialogue at the right moment in any conversation! I wish I could do so!

Well, I wanted to write down each and every killer dialogue from the movie but then IMDB will have nothing to do. So here is a list that indicates AAA' effects on my oh-so-mundane life:

You know I'm in AAA mode when (in any order):

1. I ask for Sharbat-e-Jannat to the lemon juice vendor on the street side.
2. On meeting a good friend, I exclaim 'Haila!' instead of 'Hi!'.
3. On being asked in which team I am at work, I reply 'Business Pilaning' instead of 'Business Planning'.
4. One being granted leave by my boss I think, 'Main toh kehta hoon aap purush hi nahi hain, mahapurush hain mahapurush!'.
5. I'm busy working and I'm asked what am I doing I tend to reply, 'Aankhen nikaal ke gotiyaan khel rahi hoon'.
6. Anyone picks my favourite food off my plate, I think, 'Yeh khandani chor lagta hain'.
7. On being asked 'Tera interview kaise hua?' I wish to reply, 'Hona kya tha, unka ek-ek sawaal, hamare do-do jawaab..Sawaal-jawaab, sawaal-jawaab..Chup..lambi khamoshi.'
8. I see a zit on my face I be like 'Teja main hoon, mark idhar hain!' and point out to the nasty pimple.
9. I see any girl's dupatta dangling and sweeping the floor I wish to remark, 'Gogoji aapka ghagra!'. And I expect a reply, 'Uthaata hoon.'
10. I take a cup of tea to my lips and keep it down realising it's steaming hot I say in my mind, 'Haath toh aaya, mooh na laga.'
11. Salary is credited in my account and I exclaim 'Ye toh chillar hain!' on getting the SMS alert.
12. I read 'There was a king' and I think of  'Bread ka Badshah aur Omlet ka Raja..Bajaj..Hamara Bajaj!' (including the tune in which the original dialogue was said, mind it.).
13. I exclaim 'Smart Boy!' even though the guy is hot.
14. I say 'Shabaash mere cheetey! Shabaash! instead of congratulating a person who has recently excelled in academics and got me sweets for the same.
15. My Sorry is followed by 'Galti se mishtake ho gaya.'

Many will 'faalo' soon!

Happy Leap Yaaar folks!

Well, I 'leaped' over here right in the new year! Not even a month has passed in 2012 and here I am, already feeling like a sunday..Here is what i feel of late!

I feel like a Sunday

Reclining on the couch,
Stuffing popcorn in my mouth,
Switching channels in ‘n out,
I feel like a Sunday..

I wish I sleep till late,
Have lunch on my dinner plate,
Don’t care if my manners are at stake,
Oh I feel like a Sunday..!

Wanna do all nothings,
Day-dream on everything,
And sit on piled-up things
Oh how much I feel like a Sunday..

Wanna grab the PS2,
Spend hours in the loo,

And solve the Sudoku
I really feel like a Sunday!

I feel like a Sunday,
The scene looked so very well,
Until I heard the alarm bell,
Holy Cow! I woke up late on yet another Monday :-(

Difference between 'completed' and 'finished'

Nope this is not another 'vocab for the week' blog-post but an e-mail received from an ex-articled assistant friend of mine..found it worthy to be shared..Enjoy!

No English dictionary has been able to explain the difference between the two words 'complete' and 'finished' in a way that's so easy to understand :

Some people say there is no difference between COMPLETE & FINISHED but there is :

When you marry the right one, you are COMPLETE...

And when you marry the wrong one, you are FINISHED...

And when the right one catches you with the wrong one, you are... COMPLETELY FINISHED !!

Makes sense doesn't it?!

Smile Please!

At times I find myself smiling for no reason. And then I find myself break into an impromptu jig or hum a favourite line or call up a dear one to say hi or simply pull the cheeks of my mother (or granny if I am at her place!). Some of you might think 'Isko kya hua?/Pagal hai kya?/What is this blog-post exactly all about?' and some might think 'Arey, even I've done this!' and some might simply smile continuing reading. The point I want to make is - smile. For the ones who have experienced the joy of smiling for no reason, great going guys! For those who haven't, try not to find a reason for being happy. I think its completely okay if there ain't a reason to smile and yet you smile. Aren't we humans the only creatures on earth who have the wonderful ability to smile?? My limited general knowledge says so. So why can't this fact be the reason for us to smile when we are in a dearth of reasons to be happy? I do not support the idea of a big, wide smile in public every now and then. Come on, who wants to act crazy and gather the world's attention?! But giving a smile to yourself in a day or two really lightens your mood and the world around you. You feel motivated for the task in front of you, if any. Or you feel at peace. And this leads to happiness. Happiness from within.

Keep smiling :-)
